Tortour Ultracycling

TORTOUR is the biggest multiday nonstop ultracycling event in the world. The race which starts and finishes in Schaffhausen, Switzerland, demands a great deal of its cyclists and crews. Riding non-stop, day and night, the athletes have to overcome the 1,000 kilometres route over several Alpine passes in only two days, either solo or in a team. Mastering this challenging adventure takes blood, sweat and tears – but the unique cycling experience and feeling of achievement is worth it!
2019 the official Swiss Ultra-Cycling Champions will be crowned for the fifth time in the TORTOUR format. The event kicks off with the prologue at the Rhine Falls, the largest waterfalls of Europe.

The TORTOUR format leads over 1000 kilometres around Switzerland. It takes solo riders and teams between 32 and 48 hours to complete the route.

The event combines the best ideas of all existing long distance races. Therefore, TORTOUR is designed for professionals and amateurs, teams, companies and solo bikers. Going on day and night, the race is the ultimate challenge for racers and the crew.

  • categories: Solo as well as teams of 2, 4 and 6 persons

  • male, female, mixed

  • check points and changeovers (timestations) each 50 kilometres

  • In the team contest, only one rider is on the route at a time, the other ones travel in the crew car. They then change for every stage at a timestation.

  • Exception: 3 legs (first stage, middle and last stage) have to be passed in a team ride (some 150 kilometres in total).
